Welcome to Sea Cliff Motel
Sea Cliff Motel offers a rare blend of rustic charm and genuine warmth just off the coast of Trinidad, California. Nestled on a spacious two-acre property at 1895 Patricks Point Dr, this unpretentious gem boasts a solid 4.6-star rating, earned through the sincere hospitality of its owners and the cozy, clean rooms it provides. Visitors often remark on the intimate, welcoming feel that is hard to find in larger hotels. The motel’s quaint atmosphere invites guests to slow down and savor simple pleasures—whether it’s gathering around the fire pit under starry skies or stepping outside to witness breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific.
What truly sets Sea Cliff Motel apart is the personal touch. Owner Bob and his friendly dog, Coconut, create an inviting environment that instantly makes guests feel at home. From long stays to brief stopovers along the US-101 corridor, the owners’ genuine care shines through. Though the motel doesn’t feature onsite dining or fitness centers, the fully equipped kitchens in each room empower travelers to maintain independence while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Free Wi-Fi and parking further accommodate modern needs without disrupting the motel’s nostalgic vibe.
Proximity is another key strength. Just two miles from Trinidad State Beach and a short drive from Redwood National and State Parks, Sea Cliff Motel is a perfect base for nature enthusiasts and explorers. The nearby natural wonders and the tranquil coastal setting enhance the overall experience, connecting guests to the raw beauty of Northern California.
While the motel embraces simplicity, a minor quibble noted by some visitors highlights a door that doesn’t fully seal, allowing cold air and insects to sneak in. Even so, this small imperfection is far outweighed by the welcoming community feel and serene environment.
In essence, Sea Cliff Motel is more than lodging—it’s a retreat that invites guests to pause, connect, and create lasting memories. Its straightforward yet heartfelt charm makes it a must-consider destination for those seeking authenticity by the sea.

Very cozy area. The owner Bob was super friendly when we came in. His dog Coconut is really awesome and friendly. Was able to have a fire in the pit both nights we were here. Even though they don't serve any breakfast they still made sure to provide a cozy room. My only complaint was that the door did not seal all the way so cold air and bugs are able to get through if you don't put something in front of it. Would definitely stay here again if I ever come back up this way.
Found this little gem of a place while passing through this area heading home back to Canada. The whole space has such a great vibe and the people who own this motel were genuine and caring. The friendly dog Coconut welcomed us upon arrival and the chickens that roam the area were a delight to see...being animal lovers ourselves. The bed was comfy and everything was very clean. At the end of our stay the very sweet owner shared some perfect advice.... "drive slowly and breath deeply"...thank you for that!!
Bob and his staff are extremely friendly! The rooms are absolutely beautiful and clean. It's literally right across the street from one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see! I loved being able to walk outside of my room and have a campfire and grill at any time. Not to mention his dog Coconut is darling. We stayed there for a whole month because I just couldn't bring myself to leave! I absolutely loved vacationing at this incredible hotel. My boyfriend and I had a lovely time and will definitely be back again!
My friends and I stayed for one night at this charming motel on our road trip from LA to Seattle, and it has such a lovely atmosphere. The owners were great to talk to, and their dog Coconut is super friendly and affectionate. There's even a firepit out back you can use. We enjoyed our stay so much, I just wish we could've stayed a little longer!
Nice old time motel run by a sweet couple. Nice open property wuth a fire pit and Friendly dogs
Stayed here for two nights in July with my wife. Loved every minute of it. You could not ask for better, more caring owners. They were lovely to talk to and cared about making sure we had a good time. It's a very modest, unassuming place but definitely nails that unique, quaint experience that you remember and will tell people about. It's a great location, right in between trinidad and the redwoods.
